South Bay Elementary enrolls approximately 580 students in kindergarten through grade six. Its academic curriculum includes programs in language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. The school additionally offers classes in art, music and physical education. South Bay Elementary offers on-site before- and after-school day care services in partnership with the YMCA. It has a parent-teacher association that sponsors and supports academic enhancement, cultural enrichment, technology support and community-building activities, as well as field trips, athletic endeavors and staff support programs. In addition, the school s library offers an accelerated reader program that encourages students to read books and take comprehension tests.
