The Johnson County Sheriff's Department is one of the largest law enforcement agencies in Kansas. The department maintains the Citizens Academy, which provides training on crime prevention, civil liability, patrol operations, defensive tactics, criminal investigations, and jail and court procedures. It maintains a warrant division that undertakes operations for searching out, detecting and apprehending persons wanted by written orders of the Johnson County District Court. The Johnson County Sheriff's Department operates administrative, adult detention, court services, communications, investigative and patrol divisions. In addition, the department has professional standards, finance and information technology sections. It has various specialized units, including homeland security, emergency services, internal affairs and crime laboratory. The Johnson County Sheriff's Department is located in Olathe, Kan.
