My house was hit by lightning and as a result I had to replace my 19 YO system, which I had never been pleased with.

I took bids from several contractors in the south OKC market. Among the brands were American Standard, Lennox and Carrier.

My house had some real challenges to it that I shared with the contractors. It had been a model home when first constructed and as such the garage had been a sales office sharing mechanical with the rest of the house. This meant that when converted to a private residence the return and supply ducts from the garage to the HVAC had been disconnected and sealed off.

To make a long story short I had a 3.5 ton system hooked up to a duct system that could only handle 2.25 tons.

A Better was the only contractor that counted and measured my window to size the system. They proposed adding a return duct in a hallway and a new supply duct to the utility room in order to get the duct system to match requirements of the house and provide required air volume for the unit.

My review of the bids came to the conclusion that A Better was the one to go with. They were offering better SEER and AFUE rated equipment from Carrier than other contractors from other manufacturers.

The install went well. As with any retrofit there are unseen issues that come up. A Better handled all of them in a proper manner. When the new return and supply ducts were fabricated and put in place they went through the extra effort of sealing all the joints on the sheet metal with the proper sealant. You usually don’t see this attention to detail on residential systems.

Their foreman was circulating between several jobs, as is typical for this sort of operation. At every critical step Mark was there to make certain things were done properly. With HVAC systems the performance of the equipment is determined as much by proper attention to detail in the field then to design and fabrication at the manufacturer.

It came with a WIFI t-stat by Carrier that has lots of features and is easy to setup.

I have had the system in operation for about two month and were into the high 90’s. The house is cooler, quieter than ever. They also repaired some ducts leaks which means we don’t have to dust the house as often.

All in all I have no reservation recommending A Better HVAC of Moore, Ok. I have referred them to friends already.

DIdn't realize how poor their work was until we had Honor Heat and Air out to help with remodel work. Honor redid our system and it was amazing how quiet the system got and more efficient. Would not recommend A Better for a top quality job.

A Better scams

Had guy come over was here 20 min "says he put 3# of freon in" chardged us over 300$ for 20 min he didnt even look at the coil in the attic.broke agin the very next day not even 24hrs,had a friend of mine ive known for over 10 years come take a look cuz i wasnt about to pay A Better another 300$,my friend was here for lil over an hour showed me with my own eyes my coil in the attic was dirty showed me how to clean them then showed me that it was 5#s low on freon my system only holds 7#s of freon,so my friend filled it up and now its been workn fine for lil over a week so A Better are scamers never trust them or use there service there just con you out of your hard earned $$$, save you self the trouble call diff a/c service because these guys suck

No call back

Called to get someone to come look at my A/C. Talked to a man on the phone and was told I would get a call back in about 10-15 min. From repair man in the field. 24 hours later still no call back. Will not use or recommend!!!!!!!!

I called and scheduled an appt...

I called and scheduled an appt, was given an early 8-10 window which is exactly what I needed since I'd be taking leave from work. At 10 I called to find out if they were running late, at which time I was told my window was 12-2. (No phone call letting me know my time had changed) Fast forward to 4 when I call again only to be told...you canceled your appt and we could get you in in a couple hours. REALLY???? I'd been sitting home waiting all day only to now be looking for a differnt company to come out and service my AC. Way to look out for your customers.

Not just A- Better , but the best!

I have used these guys since they installed my system when I built my home in 1997. I have never had any problem with their work. Sandard maintenance or emergency repair, they have always been prompt, affordable and friendly. I highly recommend the two-visit yearly service contract. It moves you to the top of the list with a 10% discount.

Happy to find a great company

As a new home owner,you can imagine the multitude of contractors, plumbers, electricians, and carpenters, etc; that we have dealt with in the past year, while our home was being built. Shortly after we moved in,our air conditioner quit working! My nerves were spent to say the least, so with great skepticism I started trying to find a GOOD place to fix it. My neighbor recommended I call A-Better Heating and Air. When I called the secretary was very courteous, and got a repair man to my home that afternoon.He was very nice, clean cut, and well-spoken. He showed me what went wrong, and told me he would get the part to fix it. The next morning he was back, on time, and fixed it within thirty minutes! I thanked my neighbor, and we spent the afternoon nice and cool!

After calling around, price checking the metro for heat and air, I had the pleasure of speaking with the friendly staff at A- Better. They promptly scheduled a time that was convenient for me, to come to my home, and fix the heater.

The technician was on time, honest, and explained everything in great detail about what was wrong with my heater.

He was able to fix my heat that same day! I felt my bill was very fair compared to other companies I've called on in the past, and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
