Provided by YP.comI've never experienced a more welcoming Buddhist center. Beautiful uplifting center, with a progressive sermon. Everything was in English. I am of European heritage and if I weren't part of a different Buddhist path, I would make this my Oakland spiritual home.

Provided by YP.comWORST, CHURCH, EVER. Definitely the place is full of prejudiced, chauvinistic racists. They will not talk to you unless you speak Japanese, UNLESS you will be donating money. NEVER will you leave this place unless at least 5 people pass and re-pass the offering plate to you over and over and over. Around february 7 2011, a brutal sexual assault took place on the Buddhist church of Oakland grounds that nearly took the life of the victim. It was broadcasted on televised bay area news and newspapers everywhere, you can try to google the violent sexual assault column on internet archives, LOOK IT UP - it's everywhere in the news archives.
That minister says "women's waste of education and money. women should just keep to the role created since dawn of man-kind, child rearing."
BTW, prepared to having young and old people harass, follow, and ask you repeatedly for money, $$$, checks, donations nonstop in Japanese.
good luck.
