Where do I begin..We decided to give Oliver's a try because we like to support local businesses.I had ordered whole belly clams at market price. They were $16.95 which was fine. I then wanted to sub the fries for onion rings another $3.50 so now I am up to $20.45 before my $2.00 water. When it came out I counted 10 whole belly clams and no onion rings but fries. My husband ordered a foot long hot dog $5.00, a double cheeseburger no mayo $6.50 and a 12 oz plastic cup of coke filled with ice for $2.50..They first told us it was $50.00 and change . We had to tell them they over charged us,We paid by charge and they handed us back $10.00 in cash .Had to tell them I never got my onion rings and the burger had mayo on it. The woman who was clearing the tables asked us if we needed a to go container. We said no and that we won't be back and her response was a simple ok.. In short over priced food.As we were leaving we over heard the people behind us saying the same thing....

Just had lunch there today. Ordered Grilled Cheese and the mini hot dogs off the kids menu. The grilled cheese was cut out in shapes, so the crust was removed for the kids and the mini hot dogs were the perfect size for my 2 year old to eat. The kids played on the swing set and loved the donkey and the horse in the petting zoo. Everything is very clean and friendly. Planning on going back on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon to enjoy the live music.

Great Place

Love this new restaurant...lovely patio area, kids play area, friendly staff and most importantly, excellent food. You can tell everything is fresh, even the bread is delicious. Also, the lemonade smoothie is a must on a hot day!

Love this place... I went over the weekend with my children they really enjoyed the playscape...great atmosphere beautiful view. Music on the deck nice touch.

I had the scallops they were really good.. I read a comment someone saying they were small.. Not sure where they ate but mine was fresh and big. Maybe there looking for a free meal.. I support small local businesses... Its great to have this dairy bar in our town.... Since your new people should give you a chance before knocking it down... I will be back with family and friends...

disappointed

Was very excited about having a local place to go with my family and have given the place 2 chances. First time visited wasn't too bad. Chicken tenders were a little dry but overall was a decent experience. This time was a completely different story. They were out of half of the food on the menu. My scallop dinner consisted of 8 tiny little scallops. You can tell it was not fresh and came out of a freezer. The fries the first time we went seemed home made but this time were also right out of the freezer. We ended up getting a sausage sandwich which had a tiny piece of sausage on a gigantic roll. Not worth the money and I will not be visiting there again any time soon. I would rather take the drive to Plainfield and go to Hank's Dairy Bar.

Beautiful venue! We've been excited and eager to try it since seeing the work begin. Today was our first visit. Since the place is newly opened, help being trained, we had no problems at all with small issues with that. Help was cheerful and eager to accommodate. Flies were in abundance, but not that unusual at this time of year in a setting with food outdoors.

We had a cobb salad and chicken fingers with fries. The chicken was dry, stringy and not very good. Not worth having on the menu if they are like that all the time. Fries were okay. Salad was fine, nicely cooked egg and just enough onions, and bacon, but I wished the lettuce was cut a little bit smaller and the stem ends of the tomato slices removed. We noticed that you have out little containers of chopped onion for people who want that on their hot dogs; that's a nice touch and we will try a hot dog next visit.

We were puzzled about the layout. We had to park in the lower level lot because the small area at the top was full (more about that later), and we walked up the small hill toward the front of the building looking for an entrance, saw just a smallish covered area with picnic tables, continued across the front to the deck and the order window. Is there no indoor or undercover service? When it rains, you will have to be closed? We must have missed something because people won't walk to the other end of the building in the rain, stand in rain to order, travel back to the small covered portion to wait, then walk in the rain back to the order window. (Perhaps we missed an indoor access area.)

Note: We felt put off by the sign marking a prime parking spot as "parking for owner only." Older people want to park where it's closer to the seating without a hill or steep stairs to climb. It seems the owner and employees would - as other businesses expect - park farthest away., leaving the better spots for their customers...

We'll give Oliver's another try for sure, and hope it turns into a big success. It's aesthetically very pleasing, the building, deck, grounds are lovely. Employees are smiling and helpful. Nice work with all that, and good luck!

food was OK at best and ice cream was a joke

Food was OK. Agree with the other commenter big time. Mosquito's and flies were a huge problem...and i mean huge. The ice cream sundae I brought home for my mother in law was a joke. Friendlys is definitely the place to get your ice cream. My coffee shake was vanilla. Friendys tastes better and you definitely get more bang for your buck. The sundae was soooo tiny and the cup wasn't even full. This place needs some help which is a shame. It really is beautiful.

New and Shows It

Cute place. Nice atmosphere (singer on porch was a nice touch). Flies are terrible but unfortunately that can't be helped this time of year in this area. But Tractor Supply is right next door. I would suggest stopping in to get the fly tap bags used in barns.

Food was barely ok. Fry oil is clearly to hot leaving all the fried food (main staple on the menu) overdone on the outside and undercooked on the inside. Cannot comment on the ice cream as we didn't try on this visit.

Order arrived very fast but we would have gladly waited 3 or 4 more minutes for properly fried fries and fritters.

A few suggestions: pre packaged goods often don't have much flavor. We would pay slightly more for fresher food.

Shred the lettuce for the sandwiches. It goes father and doesn't look so meager.

Fries should be double deep fried to be crispy.

Change your oil already (it's burned) start with fresh and turn it a bit lower.

We love to support local businesses and well be back to try the dairy bar.

Hoping the food improves...
