In November 2010, I visited the Bed Bath and Beyond in Little Rock. Purchased many items, and gifts for the holiday. On last week, my neice went return/exchange the merchandise, still in its original gift packageing and box that the BBB offers. She was told that she needed a receipt or a registry. I knew she was registered there, "I" just didn't bother to get her registry. The people in the North Little Rock store told her that they never sold that merchandise in the state of Arkansas, and had no record of the sale. They wanted her to leave the dishes, and have someone follow up with her. The district manager told her to give them my name, and my address so they could call the stores close to where I reside and verify a sale. I am angry that this situation has happened. I think that it is important for people not to assume that african-americans steal as a way of life. I am heartedly sorrowful, that the store used such prejudgice practices of 1 over zealous sales person. This needs to be investigated. I'm sure that she is not the first, and from the sounds of it, she won't be the last.
