I have been coming here ever since I moved to Newark (4 years). This was my favorite place. Up until lately. Last night I met up with a friend I haven't seen in a while so I suggested we go to Sagres because it is so good. When we arrived we were greeted and ordered a pitcher of sangria and the shrimp with garlic. The shrimp didn't taste fresh at all. Then we ordered our entrees. I decided to try something new, so I ordered the salmon stuffed with shrimp. when our dinner came out it wasn't as expected. On the plate was a piece of salmon and the crab was on top (not stuffed). It still looked good. Unfortunately it din't taste good at all. the crab meat didn't taste like crab at all. and the salmon tasted really fishy. I ordered vegetables and yellow rice as my sides. The vegeables were good but the rice just ok. The waitress came over and I told her I couldn't eat it that it didn't taste good at all. She then told me that the crab wasn't just crab it was accompanied with shrimp, lobster, breadcrumbs and whatever else she said. If I knew that I would not have ordered it. She asked if I wanted her to throw it out and of course I told her yes because there was no way I was eating it. When we were done we got the check. The salomon that 1) I couldn't eat and 2) didn't eat were on there. I told the waitress that I shouldn't have to pay for something I didn't eat. Thats when the nice waitress wasn't so nice anymore. Her comment back to me was "you ate some of it"..... well obviously I did that's how I knew it didn't taste good (i took two bites). Then she proceded to say "well you told me to throw it away"..... really?! Who else would have eaten it. She told me she would have to call the owner. I asked her to have the owner come over. The owner wasn't even there. The other waiter ended up taking care of the situation. Now my friend and I have been in the restaurant business for years. This was the worst expeirence I have ever had there. The menu is misleading, the food isn't fresh and there is no management on duty in case anything goes wrong or even right. And if something goes wrong just hope you didn't get the same waitress I had becase she will talk back to you. Sorry this is not how you do business.
