Provided by YP.comI first heard about the SHL clinic through a friend of mine who started to take Tai Chi classes there. Not sure what really prompted me to go and try a class but I was really surprised by how much I liked the energy of the clinic. When you first get there, you are greeted by a huge open and sunlit space, decorated with plants all around the room. Diem is super friendly and very welcoming and I noticed his mom is usually in the back kitchen brewing the day's herbs (she usually makes the class a sample of her brew after class..what a treat!). When I decided to try a massage with Diem, I was greeted by fresh sheets and towels, calming music, and a gentle energy of the room. He explained to me that he doesn't like doing so many massages during the week because they do take alot of energy (I should know, I'm a coach and a trauma therapist) and he doesn't want to be less than fully present when he gives a massage. Other than the fact that he's really skilled, I've never felt more paid attention to in a massage than with Diem. He really holds his attention throughout the session and you can feel the difference of how much healing intention he has behind his hands. I told my friend "he has magic hands!" Soon enough, she tried a massage with him too and loved it!
A few weeks later, I started to get sick (I'm typically proned to chest infections) and I mentioned it briefly to Diem and he gave me a packet of herbs to try. I've always been curious about chinese herbs and their healing potential (I so want to stop taking a Z-pak whenever I get sick) but never made the time to research it. Because Diem is so cool and open to talk to, I knew he'd be the perfect person to start with. After I tried the herbs (I had to boil them and sit over the steam with a towel over my head), I almost immediately felt like my lungs were opening up and I started to cough out alot (i meant alot) of phlegm. He also suggested sipping on hot water throughout the day to keep my lungs moist. It's been 2 days and I really think I successfully avoided getting a full blown chest infection. THANK YOU DIEM!
