Dr. Meisler started practice in 1975 after finishing his residency at Maimonides Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. He became very involved with treating athletes as he and his wife Laurie started training for marathons. He joined The Preventive and Sports Medicine Center in 1976 which was founded by Norbert Sander, M.D., an internist who specialized in sports medicine. Dr. Sander is also a former winner of the N.Y.C marathon. Together they treated many thousands of athletes who traveled hundreds if not thousands of miles to see two of the most well-respected running doctors in the country. The Preventive and Sports Medicine Center moved from City Island/Bronx New York to the upper east side of Manhattan where it remained until for more than 25 years. The practice grew and added other podiatrists and now is one of the largest and most respected podiatry practices in New York City. During this time Dr. Meisler has had many positions including Co-chief, a division of podiatry at New York Downtown Hospital, Director of Podiatric Medical Education and Director of Podiatric Residency Program at Beth Israel Medical Center. He is also on staff at New York Presbyterian-Weill Cornell Medical Center, Mount Sinai Medical Center and New York Downtown Hospital. He has been teaching residents for more than 25 years and is passionate about it. He has been a marathon runner, avid tennis player, horseback rider and golfer.
