Dr. Kang is Associate Professor of Medicine at Columbia University Irving Medical Center (CUIMC) and Fellowship Program Director in the Division of Rheumatology.  She is actively involved in teaching and training medical students, residents and rheumatology fellows at CUIMC. Additionally, Dr. Kang is interested in addressing bioethical issues in medicine and rheumatology, and completed a Master in Bioethics at Columbia University.   She was named an Ewig Clinical Scholar at CUIMC for her work in teaching and education and received a Fellowship Training Award from the Rheumatology Research Foundation (RRF). Dr. Kang was also awarded the RRF Clinician Scholar Educator Award, which supported her work in creating an online, interactive bioethics curriculum for rheumatology fellows, covering topics such as the recruitment of vulnerable research subjects and the globalization of clinical research. Her bioethics work also includes exploring participant preferences for the return of research results and researchers’ practices and views on returning incidental findings.    Dr. Kang served as Chair of the American College of Rheumatology (ACR) Ethics and Conflict of Interest Committee and Co-Chair of the ACR In-Training Examination Taskforce/Test Materials Development Committee. Additionally, she is a member of the CUIMC Division of Rheumatology Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Committee and the GMEC Fellowship Evaluation Subcommittee.
