Dr. Aakruti Bhalja was raised in New Jersey and attended Rutgers University. She completed her bachelor's degree in biological sciences, nutrition and psychology. She then received her doctorate from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine, where she gained extensive knowledge of all aspects of the lower extremity. During her time there, she was involved in a service trip to Kolkata, India which served the local underprivileged diabetic population. Dr. Bhalja completed her residency at the Department of Veterans Affairs in East Orange, NJ in Podiatric Medicine and Surgery, specializing in Reconstructive Rearfoot and Ankle Surgery. During her residency, she was involved in a multitude of seminars focused on foot and ankle trauma, reconstruction and surgery. She is certified in internal fixation techniques and foot and ankle arthroscopy. Dr. Bhalja is board certified by the American Board of Podiatric Medicine.
