We were extremely pleased with David Murray as our Architect and would highly recommend him to anyone. In fact, we did recommend him to my husband’s business partner and David ended up doing a phenomenal job designing a larger scale addition to his home.



We live in a small village with numerous historic Victorian era homes (like ours) and we were looking to expand the kitchen and bump out one of the upstairs rooms. It was a relatively modest addition to the house, but our village has a very active Architectural Review Board and an ever vigilant local historical society. Almost nobody ever is immediately approved by the ARB for anything in this town. It was an amazing tribute to David and the care and artistry with which he works, that not only did we sail through the ARB review the first time, not only did the ARB gush about how nice the project was, but the local historical society sent a letter to the ARB indicating their support for our project along with compliments on the design and its consistency with our historical home.



In terms of the way we got to that final design, it was such a pleasure working with David. He presented my husband and I with quite a few suggestions that took into account variations on the features we were considering as well as many features that David suggested that we hadn’t considered.



David is a big proponent of taking advantage of some of the most modern approaches to design, especially when it comes to Green products, and especially when it comes to insulation.



David was a big help in dealing with our contractor. He inspected the progress of the job and during the inspections would occasionally find things that the contractor had done that deviated from the plans that I would never have been able to recognize. David was also a big help in deciding which of the bids to accept. He was even willing to sit down and go through the bids with the prospective contractors line by line to make sure there was no misunderstanding (there are always misunderstandings).



We have lived with results of the addition now for more than a year and it has been fabulous. We get compliments on it literally every time someone comes in who hasn’t been in before. People in town, even total strangers, who find out where we live will compliment us. It wasn’t the most extravagant addition as additions go these days, but David did such a tremendous job. David Murray is a brilliant architect.
