College of Education

OLHCC has a great Education program. I began the Alternative Certification program for Elementary Education in Aug. 2009. I absolutely love it there. The professors are amazing and I have really learned what it takes to be a great educator. I would recommend anyone to attend OLHCC for the Education program.

EDUCATION + FAMILY = OLHCC

As a small child, I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. I think its in my blood. I tried education courses @ 2 other large enrollment colleges & my teaching dreams began to fade away. Then, I heard from a friend that before giving up my dream of educating, I should do a campus visit of OLHCC. That was the BEST advice someone could have ever given me!! I went to the school's open house, which is located on a beautiful & clean campus, & I left feeling like I was already an OLHCC student. My next time on campus, I stopped in my tracks, when 3 people told me "Hi, Lundie!" These people had just met me & hundreds of other people just days before & not only were they making me feel extremely welcomed, they called me by my name!! At the other 2 colleges, that never, ever happened; I was just a number. Needless to say, the enthusiasm was contagious & thus I embarked on my fabulous first-class, memorable educational journey!

OLHCC prepared me extensively for my teaching career, which I'm happily entering my 8th year of! Not one day goes by in my job in which I do not refer back to something I learned @ OLHCC. Wheter it be referring back on how to to take accurate student work samples & notes, remembering different methods on how to present difficult instructional materials to my students, or recalling the most professional manners possible when handling a student situation...I was prepared...beyond prepared! And if I wasn't or am not 100% sure of something related to my career, I could still to date pick up the phone or email ANY/ALL of my OLHCC college professors & they would assist me asap & even invite me back to campus for coffee & lunch! I actually was encouraged by my professors, who I now & have referred to since day one as my friends & family, to keep acadmically achieving. I loved OLHCC so much that I returned there to pursue my Masters degree in Educational Administration & Supervision, which I obtained in May 2008.

I am a leader in my school. I am a go-to girl when something is wrong & needs to be fixed. I also am a thinker...pondering about returning to OLHCC to achieve my Doctorate in Education. That's how much I LOVE OUR LADY OF HOLY CROSS COLLEGE!! I know that if I return there, I will achieve my dreams, I will be intellectually enticed & challenged, & I will conquer my Doctorate degree with the confidence, support, encouragement, & love of my OLHCC family.

A Student Nurse Perspective

My experience at Our Lady of Holy Cross College has been challenging, rewarding, and extremely satisfying. The campus is small but beautiful, and it evokes a feeling of being part of a rich New Orleans tradition. The school was founded by the Congregation of the Marianties of Holy Cross. That foundation is present at the school today, as many sisters can be seen walking and even taking classes, among other students throughout the day.

The nursing program was instituted in 1984. Since then, it has developed into one of the best nursing schools in the state of Louisiana. Its student nurses and its graduates exemplify quality nursing care.

On a personal level, I am extremely pleased to have chosen OLHCC as my nursing school. The pre-requisite courses showed me that OLHCC is a quality school. The classes were small and the professors were approachable. The professors made themselves available to meet the needs of the students. Most importantly, I learned. The teaching was serious and my education soared. As I progressed into the nursing curriculum I realized that the school, its faculty, and its staff are all devoted to the success of the students. My graduating class was the first to utilize the new, state of the art nursing laboratory. I learned the basics of nursing and I began to understand what it means to be a nurse, and more so, what it means to be a nurse from OLHCC. I learned to think like a nurse and I gained hands-on experience in my clinical courses.

I am now entering into my senior year of nursing school. I still have a lot to learn; however, I can confidently look back and know that I was prepared for this year, and that when I graduate, I will be prepared for the tough but rewarding profession of nursing.

All in all, my review is aimed to say that OLHCC provides an exceptional and unique college experience. My five star rating is a true reflection of the excellence of the school and the education it provides.

Good Things Come in Small Classes!

I am pleased to say that my college experience at OLHCC has been very positive. The small classes make it easy for group discussions, allowing for everyone to be involved. I will graduate in the Fall of 2010 with a B.S. in Business Administration. I highly recommend the business program at OLHCC, it is led by highly professional, knowledgeable, enthusiastic and experienced business professionals. Each and every professor in the business program has had so much to offer and their passion for the subject matter makes it easier to learn.

Strictly Business for Working Professionals

Ten years removed from High School, I sought out a degree program that would fit my full time work schedule as well as allow me the balance to continue being a great husband and father. I was shocked when my search yielded OLHCC; all I needed and more to attain a well-rounded business education, right in my back yard. Evening courses, internet courses, independent study, OLHCC has it all! I'm sorry. Did I mention the "Real World" business faculty? If you're looking for a Business Degree that's worth it's weight in gold (by the way, a precious metal whose value has withstood the test of time) a Business Degree from OLHCC might be a great choice for you too. Go ahead! Check it out! I dare ya!

A Wonderful Education

Our Lady of Holy Cross College is giving me a wonderful education. It has very small class sizes and offers a lot of one on one attention from the professors. The professors really care about their students and want to see them succeed. I would definitely recommend this college to anyone whether they were a first time college student or transferring from another college.

I wanted to be close to home but get a quality education in Nursing. I was set up immediately after I graduated in Ochsner's fine facilities and got work so quickly! I did it and owe it all to Our Lady of Holy Cross!
