DVA is a locally owned independent agency providing insurance solutions to metro Detroit for over 40 years. Being an Independent gives us the flexibility to work with a number of different insurance carriers to find the one that fits our clients situation the best. Our years of experience give our clients an upper hand when it comes to personalizing their insurance program for their home, auto, business or life.DVA as it stands now has been evolving since John Vandenbossche bought the original R. W. Davis Agency of then East Detroit in 1979. For many of the early years of DVA there were just 2 people manning the shop on Gratiot, John and now partner in the agency, Lisa Anderson. As the agency grew it had to find more room to house additional employees and it moved initially to Nine Mile, just east of Gratiot. after 25 years at that location it was time for the latest move to it current location just west of Kelly on Nine Mile. With the growth of DVA came acquisitions of additional agencies. First was the Steinmetz Agency in Marine City that is now the Steinmetz-Vandenbossche Agency. This was followed not long after by the Baxter Agency in Algonac. In 2013 DVA opened their first office from scratch in New Baltimore on 23 and Jefferson. Throughout the growth DVA has not strayed too far away from its roots of a local, family business. In 2002 John’s son, Jonathan joined the agency team just shortly before Lisa’s son, Chris also answered the call to work in the family business. DVA’s commitment to being involved in the communities we do business in, treating people fairly and keeping the local, family business values in place has served it well. They contribute their previous success and continued growth to a commitment to these values.
