I operate from an assumption that there is greater purpose to our lives, that human beings are deeply compelled to grow toward health and wholeness, and that our work, as fully realized human beings, is to maintain a deep, strong, and loving connection to ourselves, to the others around us, and to the world at large. My work in the mental health field includes working with individuals in private practice and community mental health settings, with a special emphasis on Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and healing from childhood physical and sexual abuse. I am also experienced in treating depression, anxiety, eating disorders and GLBT, relationship, and family of origin issues. I have led groups for people recovering from PTSD and co-occurring substance abuse, and have designed and led workshops on Grief and Loss and Exploring Images of the Divine. My approach in working with people is one of gentle respect and firm accountability to growth. I use a very client centered approach, blending psychodynamic principles with reflective listening, cognitive-behavioral techniques, meditation and mindfulness practices. My clients see clear, tangible, positive changes in their lives.
