When arrested you are booked into the jail system. Generally most offenses already have a pre-set amount for bail, occasionally you might have to go before a judge who will then decide how much your bail will be. Once you learn how much your bail amount is, you can put up the entire amount to be released. Or, you can contact a bail bond which will only cost you a percentage of the total amount. Once released on bail you must make all of your court appearances. When your case is finished, the court will then exonerate or release you from the terms of your bail bond.
