I contracted with Jeff Boone to build and install some iron railing from my front porch to the sidewalk. I'm blind and I thought this would help me find my way from the sidewalk to my front door. After an initial meeting and signing of a proposal, Jeff returned once to take some measurements and collect a check for half the amount of the project - $712.00. However, after that, things changed.He missed two scheduled appointments to do some of the work. Then, he just quit responding to phone calls and emails. After a couple of weeks of silence, I called again to cancel the work and request a refund of my initial payment. When he did not respond to that, a friend suggested to contact KUSA Channel 9 in Denver to see if they could help. They contacted Jeff and he told them he would repay the money. He called a friend of mine who had been attempting to contact him as well and said that I would have my money in a couple of days. Jeff told my friend that we had, "...made a mountain out of a molehill."Another week went by and I had no word from Jeff and no money. My friend contacted him again and Jeff said that I would have a certified check in two days. That was two weeks ago.What is so confusing is why he refuses to communicate. If he had encountered some difficulty with the project or had some personal problems that made doing the work impossible, all he would have had to do was say something. I even offered to allow him to repay me over time, but he chooses to ignore my calls and those of others. He has failed to follow through on anything he has said he would do.For some reason, the police are not interested in helping me. Taking him to court would probably be as fruitless. I have filed a complaint with the State Attorney General to allege fraud. The only other thing I can do is to warn others to steer clear of this thief. He cares nothing for his reputation, so save yourself some headaches and find a trustworthy contractor.
