Terrible service and dangerous!

I can't recall having a more dangerous and apalling experience with a company than we did with ServPro Altamonte Springs/Longwood during our mold remediation. I expressed concerns to David Boykin the supervisor about the containment that was erected which were largely dismissed. Within 4 hours the containment had been breached 3-4 times because areas opened up where the plastic was not adequently secured to the floor or walls. Each time I politely mentioned it to David who became increasingly annoyed that I should even care that mold spores could be released into our home where my wife home schools our two young children.

At around lunchtime they said they were nearly done when we had previously discussed opening up far more of the 2 story tall wall to check for mold and the presense of water leaks around the upper windows. The tech refused and when I insisted he follow the proper protocols (which were outlined in writing from an independent mold inspection company report) he said he was the expert and was walking off the job before completing the living room or even starting the family room. When I asked him to stay and finish (along with my general contractor who was paying for the remediation), David not only refused, but starting ripping down the containment area. I begged him to stop and leave the plastic wall up -- that he was endangering my family -- but he proceeded anyway! He then said "I guarantee you, there's no more mold in these walls." He then left, leaving mold contaminated trash in our living room, all the plastic he had ripped down, and moldy debris in our yard. I got this incident on video, along with photos of various industry standard safety protocols that were broken during the job. Our agreement was to keep the containment up until after a "clearance test" had been done. Mr. Boykin knew this.

After Mr. Boykin left, we had to rent large hepa air scrubbers to run all night while we stayed at a hotel. After bringing back the mold testing company, they confirmed the presence of more mold, including a highly toxic variety called Stachybotrys. We brought in a new remediation company that finished the job without incident, finding far more mold that supposedly did not exist. After contacting Devaughn L. Higdon, Jr, ServPro Longwood,Altamonte's manager/VP, I showed him photos, video, and lab reports documenting everything. Instead of firing Mr. Boykin for breaking the most basic mold remediation protocols, showing poor judgement, quitting in the middle of a job, and purposely endangering my families health, I was put off. I have received nothing but delaying tactics for months. When confronted about Mr. Boykin showing me a business card indicating that he was IICRC certified in mold remediation when IICRC's website showed he was not listed, Higdon admitted that the tech was in fact not certified in mold remediation. So, hire this company at your own risk!
