Richie Propane charged me $75 to take away their tank and now they won't give me a credit for the propane that was still in the tank. Plus if they did give you a credit of 30 cents a gallon!
Avoid them at all cost!!

I just got off the phone with Lisa at Ritchie oil. I ordered my propane tank to be filled and asked for them to match a competitor price. Lisa said no problem took the info. and would email me a bill. Very simple and very good service. 17 years with them.

unfamiliar with the area (i was renting in minocqua/hazelhurst over the winter), i contacted ritchie lakeland under advisement of the property manager. she told me they were the only propane supplier in the area or who would deliver to my rental. HUGE MISTAKE in taking her advice!

a) despite the fact that a credit check was run when i moved in (and i was pre-approved for a 'net 30' type account based on my credit score), upon discovering my race on the 2nd or 3rd fill up (i am black), my terms suddenly changed to 'cod'. i called the office and spoke to both the owners who offered no explanation for the obviously bigoted change in policy.
b) my account was a 'call for fuel' type. ritchie oil decided to show up @ peak fuel prices to 'top me off'. this might have been the same day they discovered my race and the color of my money went from 'green' and acceptable to 'black' and untrustworthy.

ritchie is unethical, immoral and ... well a company run by bigots. (the fact that they have multiple co entries here on yp i suspect is a reflection of the mentality of the owners. they get a 'bad' review, they write a 'good' one under a different company entry.)

i say DO NOT under any circumstances receive fuel from this company. u'll regret it if u do.

i'd rate them a '-5' if such a scoring was possible.

IN both the tank placement and refill they were great. My first experience with propane... They patiently answered my questions and returned when my fireplace installer thought there was a leak (there wasn't).
Their price was less than closer companies as well.

I have been buying my propane from Ritchie Oil for 30plus years and would like to say I have never once had any problems with their service. I always receive propane on time and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. During the gas shortage here in the northwoods when no one else had propane they made sure propane was available not only for their customers but for people that weren't their customers (because their suppliers didn't have any). Thank you Ritchie Oil for your wonderful service and being part of our community.

They filled up my LP tank when I didn't need a fill (I had approx. 45%) at the highest peak price during what was supposed to be an LP shortage. They put in 185 gallons at $5.69 which took me up to 85 % for a 500 gallon tank. Competitors were charging between $4.50 and $4.99 a gallon the same day I was filled up (Jan 30th 2014). Five days later the market price is $3.50 from Rusk County LP. One competitor said they were calling their Automatic Fill customers to see if they needed fills. Another said they didn't want to fill past 50 percent so the customer wouldn't be hit so hard financially. Not Ritchie Oil. Be darn the customer. Well I say screw me once, shame on you...... I am gone as a customer. And if they would have delivered the order within 5 days from January 9th, when they pulled my customer ticket to deliver LP and then fill me up, my cost would have been no more than $2.69 per gallon. That is $3.00 per gallon difference.
