Impossible to actually talk to a human when you need customer service.

The robot answering service doesn't allow you a great choice.

If you need something other very basic question, you are disconnected when you try to get more choices.

Every possible negative thing you can think of regarding what a small-town monopoly would be like. They raise rates and one has to wonder if the commissioners are really just puppets for the greedy company. Take a look at them on the company's website. The picture of the three puppets (commisioners) says it all. Unbelivably vile company that lies about their rates (they neglect to inform people that on top of the kWh rate they also charge EVERY residential customer $1/day for service - on TOP of the normal rate of .07/kWh. So it turns out the bill is one of the highest in WA state. Absolute liars. But they ARE pretty good about maintaing service. Never been out of service except 1 time in 3 years. So that says something. But boy do you pay for it (and all the other poor people in Mason County). The employees are overpaid pos. Their main office is nicver than the taj mahal...and guess who paid/pays for it? These are the highest paid, most fringe benefits of any company in Mason county..and the citizens pay for it.

I built a home 5 years ago. I...

I built a home 5 years ago. I noticed my electric bill escalated this past winter. My kiliwatt hours actually tripled. With the increase of gasoline prices, food prices and my, electric bill, I got behind in payments. Come to find out my drain field had collapsed and my pump was running 24/7. To replace the drain field it was over $21,000.00 including tax. I am a single parent and got behind on my payments. However, I was slowly catching up on the past due amount. I had brought the balance owing from over $700.00 down to $400.00. I repeatedly spoke with "customer service" and explained the situation. I personally came in and paid every extra cent I had. Over this past month I asked for grace on more than one occassion. I went into PUD #3 personally and explained my situation. Also I asked for a print out of the killawatt hours to turn into insurance. Unfortunately, like may women raising children it is a monthly battle to collect the child support that is due. I was always honest with the women who work in the PUD # 3 office. On July 5, at approximately 3:45pm a female employee came to my home I was out at the time. She told my friend that I had a outstanding balance of $300.00 and she was there to shut off the electricity. My friend had $285.00 in cash and offered to pay the amount. Leaving a balance owing of $15.00. They would not accept the money because it was $15.00 short. My friend called me and the PUD employee called the office. I had made a $50.00 payment on I beleive July 1. Here's what happened. Instead of accepting $285.00 and allowing me another day to pay the $15.00, they gave me until 8:00 am the following morning. I explained that I needed hunt down my EX-husband who was now 5 days late on support. An 8:00 am deadline would not give me enough time to cash the check. Now we're talking $15.00. So instead of accepting $285.00 my electricity was shut off the next morning. I was able to come up with the $300.00 which actually should have been $250.00 (remember the $50.00 payment) the following afternoon. I drove to PUD #3 BUT DID I GET MY ELECTRICITY TURNED ON? NO.....I was told that I would now have to PAY a TOTAL AMOUNT OF***** $849.37**** because now even though I would be finally caught up, I would now HAVE TO PAY AND ADDITIONAL DEPOSIT to have my electricity turned on. BECAUSE THE DAY BEFORE I WAS $15.00 SHORT.. HOWEVER I COULD PAY HALF OF THE DEPOSIT AND THEY WOULD BILL ME FOR THE REST!!!! So now I could AGAIN have an outstanding balance. This because of being $15.00 short. Shame on you PUD # 3. I still have no electricity.
