When enrolling to MTTI, I was ...

When enrolling to MTTI, I was given a tour of the KC campus, which was lovely. Nice classrooms, seemed very organized and the faculty was very helpful and knowledgeable. This was also the promise for the new campus in Lawrence. They told me about the location in Lawrence and how it was getting ready for our program. Expectations of the new campus were made out to be just as organized and put together as that of the KC campus. One week before classes were scheduled to begin, students received a letter stating that the building was not ready and that classes would begin at Brandon Woods, a retirement community in Lawrence (and so began the 10 month downward spiral of my education). It turned out, that the building which they spoke of at enrollment never even existed, they had NO PLANS for a location in Lawrence. This was only the beginning of the many many problems that came once this program began.

The first class was a nutrition and wellness class. The teacher was unbelievably inappropriate; speaking of sexual situations in the classroom and talking about how good cheeseburgers at McDonalds are, in nutrition and wellness class! She ended up getting fired because of the several complaints. The worst thing was the unqualified teacher for our Anatomy class, which, happens to be the root base of all bodywork. He was, in no way, knowledgeable of human anatomy. The class was unstructured, unorganized and uninformative! Something like 40 hours and 1500 dollars were WASTED on this particular class.

It was quite unfortunate that at this point there was no sympathy and no understanding on the side of the faculty. All the trustworthy people, the MTTI founders, which I met at enrollment had resigned from MTTI because of the corrupt happenings within the programs. There were some responses to the many complaints, but they always ended with the students being disrespected and belittled by the administration. These people of MTTI are very unsympathetic and uncaring people and I believe that the mission of MTTI has become quite financially driven.

So, these are just a few of the many major problems but there were so many more little things on top of these. Once the location had been acquired (947 New Hampshire, Lawrence KS) our surroundings were a 100% construction zone. Walking over paint cans, being careful of exposed nails on the floor, having to talk over hammers, drills, and saws. Still, we never received any refunds or even just the respectful apology. It is a sad story that my 12,500 dollar education cannot be recommended. Now I am graduated, and realizing the importance of my commitment to my own education! I study anatomy often and try to catch up on what I have missed on my own!

I will say, that there were a few good educators that came through my classroom. These special people showed grace and respect to my class and put back the importance of bodywork and importance of positive change into out hearts! Once we got into the classroom with our few, qualified educators, we were able to let go of all the negativity that went on with the building, and the staff of MTTI! For the sake of the school, I hope that these teachers are held up to the highest regards because without the couple of them this program has NOTHING!
