The mission of the Marriage and Family Institute (MFI) is to provide a clinical setting in which marriage and family therapy interns can develop clinical skills and to serve the people of the greater Abilene area by offering individual, marriage, and family therapy.

The MFI is located in the College of Biblical Studies on the campus of Abilene Christian University. Therapeutic services are provided by graduate students in ACU's Marriage and Family Therapy program who are supervised by licensed marriage and family therapists. The MFI provides approximately 8000 hours of clinical services each year to the Abilene community.

Services are provided on a sliding fee scale, depending upon clients' yearly income. Interns are able to assist with marital, family, and individual problems. One of the unique features of the MFI is its Play Therapy Room which allows children to receive help for their problems in a setting that is comfortable for them.
