This was my first experience with a lawyer. Someone sold me an RV in Kansas and never paid off the lien on the title as they were supposed to according to the signed contract.After three months, the lawyer at Hooge's firm left to start his own firm. He was professional and filed the appropriate papers. After John Hooge took over, everything stopped even though I had paid almost $1,000 up front for his services. After waiting for a month for him to return my calls, I finally got him on the phone. He knew nothing about the case. He was fumbling around papers in his desk trying to find the summary his previous employee had written.After not being able to find it, he said he would find it and call me by the end of business. He failed to do so.After leaving more unreturned voice mails over a week, I finally got him on the phone. He told me, "No one cares about you with this matter." He couldn't even find out the payoff amount in the RV seller's loan. I made one phone call to the leinholder and found the answer.I conveyed the need to address the matter and move forward and communicate with the lawyer for the leinholder. I called a few times over the next MONTH, and never got him on the phone until today. He never apologized for the lack of communication (requisite with our legal operating agreement) and had the gall to say he had not dropped the ball. Over two months of waiting, and he had done nothing. Unreal.I strongly urge anyone considering his services to recognize you could easily do better.He failed to act. He wouldn't return calls. I don't know if this worse than poor performance is due to his mother being sick and passing. This of course is sad, and anyone would be wrecked by such a loss. But five months after sending his firm money, and he has been completely ineffective with a simple black and white case. I will file a complaint with the Kansas Bar Association.
