Used to be a place I would recommend, but no longer. Their management practices changed and now they are a dishonest bunch. A year ago, I had some heating issues. Tech came out to fix it, but he said that eventually we would have to replace a part and quoted us about $300 for the replacement. Now a year later, the part is on its last leg so we called Crown to replace the part. I told the receptionist about the situation and she suggested that they send a tech out to diagnose the issue and make sure that that was the problem. I asked her if it was indeed the problem and i had to replace the part, then would I have to pay the diagnostic/labor charge again. She said no, I would not be charged again for the labor to replace the part, therefore I agreed to have the tech come out to verify the problem first. So tech comes out and confirms that it was indeed the part that was causing our current issues, then quotes me $450 to replace the part. He tells me that the $450 is a package that includes the part and the labor. I told him that the lady on the phone told me that I shouldn't have to pay for the labor again. But apparently, it's either an all or nothing price because "it's a package." While the receptionist gets off on a technicality for what she originally quoted me (after all, it's a package, so no additional labor charge since there's no line item for labor), that behavior is absolutely dishonest (and i have no doubt she knew of the pricing structure beforehand). When we call the manager to find out how their costs could have gone up 50% from the prior year, he basically said that they needed to make more money. If you do the math: $450 - $300 (for the part that was quoted a year ago), that means labor costs $150 (additional). The tech was only here for 30 minutes to replace the part. That translates into $150 for 30 minutes of labor. Most people in the repair service industry do line item pricing (ie mechanics, etc.) so that their costs are transparent. This company is choosing to hide all that from their customers. We used to be loyal customers, but we will take our business elsewhere since this company has now chosen to use deceptive practices to generate revenue. I would highly NOT RECOMMEND this company and its services.
