I started going to estate sales this year and have had ample opportunity to compare the "styles" of the hired liquidators. Most have several things in common: 1) they will NOT help you carry or tie down your large purchases, 2) they watch the clock like a hawk. 4 p.m. means get out of Dodge we're closing, as if they will turn into pumpkins if the place isn't empty as the hand strikes four o'clock. 3) rarely will you hear them say " make me an offer, every things gotta go"!, letting you know they are trying to maximize profits ( and are negotiable) on things the elderly owner(s) cannot take with them on their final voyage of their life to the retirement home. Very sad, but an inevitable process in the stages of life, and death. Mark and Christy, the owners of CEO (Chrity's Estate Operations) take this responsibility seriously.. They do not fit the profile of steps 1-3. Friendly, courteous, amiable, negotiable, helpful, upbeat is their vibe. I've run into one of their competitors (Estate sales by Iris of West Bloomfield). She appears by nature to be snobby, ill tempered, non-negotiable ( and rude if you haggle). The two times I have had the displeasure of visiting one of the sales she was hosting I had to leave suddenly as her smoking addiction trumps all professionalism and respect for the customer as she chain smokes by the open doors and windows and pollutes the very air we breath! I wonder if the unsuspecting people that hire her know what is going on. Christ's (CEO) is by far the friendliest company in the business and I frequent their sales. And NO I am not a hired Hack to soft sell their business. When a man (Mark) answers the phone after midnight and politely answers my 50 questions, I know, as a former business owner, I've found a dedicated professional. Peter Quinlan 586-436-1061. P.S.
