I talked to Brent Allen on the phone asking for an estimate on a basic sewer main line clean out due to blockage and backup in the house. The estimate was relatively low ($150), and Brent sounded professional and efficient on the phone, offering to send an employee over soon to get the job done. What ensued was a 2-day drawn out ordeal where no amount of effort or equipment appeared to be able to get the job done. Finally, as a last resort and before making any effort to solve the problem himself, Brent sent a licensed plumber to clear the clog in the main line. The plumber, using the same snake that Brent's employees had used, ran it both ways through the clean out and removed the clog within fifteen minutes. A main line clean out is normally a routine, quick procedure, as the licensed plumber demonstrated. Brent called the next morning asking for $500, about 4 times the original estimate. This is a summary of the final impressions that I have of the Brent Allen Septech company: 1) the employees appear to be hard-working and polite, but may lack enough experience or skill to complete certain assignments; 2) I observed constant miscommunication and annoyance going both ways between Brent Allen and his employees; 3) Brent Allen comes off as a smooth talking businessman who is absolutely unwilling to get his hands dirty and will call in an outside professional before making an attempt to fix a problem himself. The only positive remark that I can offer is that the problem was eventually solved. I won't go so far as to call what happened to us a flat out scam, but I was not surprised to hear from others of this company's bad reputation after the deal was done. This is a public service announcement. I saw no reviews online before calling Brent Allen Septech, so I am writing this to inform others of our experience. I should not have called this company for this particular problem, and I will not recommend them to anyone or do any future business with them.
