The Boulder County Sheriff Department is charged with meeting the diverse public safety needs of the nearly 300,000 residents of the county. The sheriff maintains the county jail, coordinates search and rescue efforts, handles civil process and evictions, provides animal control services and responds to hazardous materials events. The sheriff also oversees the operation of a cooperative, countywide radio and telecommunications center and provides public safety services to the nearly 60,000 residents of unincorporated Boulder County. The Boulder County Sheriff Department is located in Boulder, Colo., and employs approximately 175 people.
