Ryan James, owner of Affordable Fencing, took on my job which was not a typical fence installation in the month of August. Need I say more? A lot of fencers will nod yes to your requests and then just do whatever they are used to doing. I needed someone I could trust to install something different - a two-sided fence, wood on the side facing my neighbor with the two 100 lbs.+ Pitbull dogs (who want to eat my dogs), and a chain-link fence on my side. I specified a two-piece CCA treated rot board at the bottom, 2x6" in the back and a 2x4" in front of that with the wood sitting on top of the 2x4". You may have seen this in Temple, the original fence in my yard with this install has lasted 20+ YEARS and is still plumb, and in remarkably good shape. I also requested a 3-rail system and stainless steel or vinyl covered screws for the cedar pickets - a best practice in cedar fencing. For the chain-link fence, I needed the support bars at the top and the bottom, and Schedule 40 posts placed a minimum of 30 inches in the ground (not the standard 24").
