Douglas C. Mathews, MD, FACS, FAANS, is a neurosurgeon with Saint Thomas Medical Partners, part of Ascension. Dr. Mathews is board-certified in Neurosurgery. He provides care of cranial, spinal, and peripheral nerve disorders to adults and children over 15 years old. Dr. Mathews has a special interest in minimally invasive procedures, adjacent segment disease, lateral approach for interbody fusions, and cervical myerloradiculopathy. He strives to educate his patients about their disorders and ensure that they have the opportunity to benefit from non-operative therapies that may prevent the need for operative intervention. If a procedure is required, his goal is to treat his patients with the least aggressive surgical options that may offer improvement in their neurological conditions. Outside of the office, Dr. Mathews enjoys traveling, playing golf, and water and snow activities.
