Brown Dog Market is a Family run business. When trying to name our new venture our collective agreement was to give a friendly nod to a great companion and friend we lost this year, Charlie. He was a huge, clumsy and adorable chocolate lab. Charlie lives on in the logo of Brown Dog Market. When we started Brown Dog Market, it was important to us that we conduct our business in a way that was as responsible to the community that we live in as possible. Recent times have seen a struggling economy and these are not times when people are cavalier about their money. What really strikes home is when you look around and see determined people apllying themselves in amazing ways. They may not have found the big job experience they thought they would gain after school, so they have turned to creative entrepreneurship. Some simply have found where demand exists and have applied themselves to finding ways to make items more personal, more custom, or more artful. These people deserve our support. Brown Dog Market supports Community Commerce, a concept that simply supports the notion of doing business with small creative individuals and small businesses. In addition, we believe in supporting organizations that work to give back to their community, the improvement of our environment and the nurturing of those needing a guided way back from a wrong turn in life. Brown Dog Market proudly carries products by United By Blue, Thistle Farms, and The Blue Chair. We hope to strengthen our community by trading in local products by small artists like Kathryn Faille, Matt Estrada, Cherry Cratty, and Amanda Ross.
