We do not recommend RL Installers. Here’s why…

We asked a good friend in the flooring business for a repair contractor recommendation. The recommended contractor no longer does repairs, but he suggested RL Installers.

We met with the young COO of RL Installers who provided us with a Repair Agreement. The Agreement even guaranteed a start date and time for one day which turned into noon the next day which turned into 3 pm the following day.

The agreement states. “The work will be performed in a professional and workmanlike manner…” I guess parking the truck on the lawn and breaking a sprinkler head was a good start on meeting a professional standard. Cutting the marble tile inside the screen enclosure and spreading marble dust on every flat surface as well as on the seat cushions and other furniture was another example of meeting professional standards.

They scored (left a saw mark) an existing tile while making cuts for other replacement tiles. Several of the cut tiles are either too short or not wide enough for the area they are placing.

The agreement called for us to pay for a minimum of 6-hours at $175.00 per hour. Suspecting we might not be satisfied, we instructed the young COO to work just 6 hours, only to have the workers attempt to continue working after the 6-hour limit. The crew quit working but left the cleanup to us.

The agreement also has a Client Cooperation clause where we agreed to not “rush or push RL employees to complete the project faster.” Interestingly, the work completed in 6 hours encompassed about 18-squre feet of tile.

The young COO came to get paid. We showed him the poorly cut replacement tiles, gave him the broken sprinkler head, showed him the marble dust everywhere, and the scoring on the existing tile. He promised us his team would arrive by 10 am the next day to make the corrections. Stupid or trusting I’m not sure but paid RL. It has been more than 7 days since the promise to be here.

Not a good experience.
