Unorganized and Unpleasant.....

The therapy group is fantastic but the management, half of the assistants and food service stink! The setting is just OK but nothing like the NHC facilities I have been in. More like the ugly step child. They were not ready for me when I arrived, did not assist us in getting thing out of the car, etc and basically did not seem to care if I was satisfied with everything. The assistants either were fantastic and caring or nasty and mean. I noticed the caring ones did all the work plus some and the others sat and read magazines or got to something in their own sweet time. This place only allows 2 baths a week, will not give you towels and washrags in between and tells you that you have to ask for your pain meds and some other meds...they don't tell you that at first...you find out sometime after you have been there. All the meds look different from the ones you normally take and you trust them to give you the ones you have had prescribed. Don't count on that! The day I left I discovered that if I had had several scripts that read" 2 a day or as needed" that I had not been given any of them! I should have asked for them because of the way the script had been written (printed on the script bottle you took in to the doctor before surgery or your hospital stay) even though the doctor had told me to take one at morning and one at night...Just know there are many things that you would never think a care facility would be allowed to do or not do. The nurses have there hands full and always try to accommodate you if you need a pain pill or other assistance but many of the assistants don't seem worry about what you need when you ring the buzzer, therefore causing you to wet your bed or eat a cold meal that you did not order. I have no idea about the cost, I just needed a place for knee replacement therapy and they had an opening. Now I wish I had just had home health like the last time and I would have saved the stress and heartache not to count the taxpayer Medicare dollars!

Don't put a loved one here. The staff is very slow to respond to patients' needs & downright hostile at times. The setting is nice but the rooms are tight & they love forcing people into roommate situations. The food is acceptable. Most of the nurses' aides are pleasant with a lethargic exception or two but the nurses are mean & borderline psychotic. The price is reasonable but I love my parents too much to ever make that mistake again.
