Provided by YP.comTwtrout you are really contradicting yourself in your review and have no idea what you are talking about! I used to work in Ophthalmology in PA and there are certain procedures that are not covered by insurance. Lasik is considered elective and 99% of insurance policies do NOT cover it. Some policies do offer a reimbursement to the patient but it is rare. Anything that has to do with a "refractive" procedure, like an astigmatism correction, is NOT normally covered and the office gets reprimanded for even filing the claim to insurance because they know it will be denied! This review is unfair period! I've been to Dr. Ply since I moved here 5 years ago and have been treated with kindness, and professionalism from him and his staff every single time. Being I have an ophthalmology backround, when I relocated I looked for the best Ophthalmologist in the area and he is it hands down! Every office takes CASH, credit cards, etc for payment of services NOT covered by insurance...how else are they going to get paid? Maybe you need to call YOUR INSURANCE COMPANY AND COMPLAIN TO THEM WHY THEY DON'T COVER CERTAIN THINGS! It's not the doctor's fault that insurance doesn't pay for certain things...

Provided by YP.comAs far as I can tell, Dr. Ply is good at eye surgery. In May of 2008 he performed cataract surgery on my left eye along with astimatism correction. I paid an extra $1,000 for a special lens that can focus both close-up and far away.
My disappointment with Dr. Ply is in the vague way he answered the numerous questions I asked before the surgery. For instance, I explained that I would only be able to afford to have surgery on one eye as I would be unemployed in January. His answer was that "some people do that." He gave me no information about the problems that these "some people" might encounter with only one eye corrected. I asked several other questions and received vague answers to them as well, but his answers were intended to make me not worry about the concerns I was sharing rather than to give me real information.
My "new" eye sees less than it did with glasses, though he claims I am seeing 20/20 through it and I am continually advised to go without glasses. So now I see less than before, and when I put on glasses for my miss-matched eyes (the right eye is extremely near-sighted) they drive me nuts as they are continually struggling to make sense out of what I'm looking at. I am constantly trying to focus without seeing double when wearing glasses indoors. The glasses work well for long distance driving. I have a new floater in my "new" eye since the surgery that moves around like a huge fingerprint on my eye, so the good eye is constantly trying to see through the fog.
I have been very disappointed with my surgery. Dr. Ply did not counsel me for what was best for me. He approached me in the same way a car dealer would treat a potential customer who walked through the door.
