I don't normally(ever) write reviews, but this place was very good. I went to Yamato with a friend who is big on sushi. I read a couple of reviews and was less than jazzed about going, but he insisted it was good and that anyone can write those things. That is why I decided to write a review. I know sushi and the first thing you try is the tamago(egg nigiri). Most places use frozen pre-packaged egg omelet. The theory is that if they take the time to cook the tamago "in house" then, chances are, they don't cut corners on quality. There were no corners cut here. After the tamago checked out, I moved on to tuna sashimi, which was the best I've had in a while. Then a couple of house specialty rolls one I think was called a P daddy roll,"very tasty"(insert asian accent). Looking forward to trying the Hibachi next time. Service was good and the people were friendly etc. Anyway, don't listen to me, try them yourself.

Nice Restaurant, but bad sushi.

I've been to many restaurants, and Yamato stands out because of it's decoration. I was quite pleased at first, but once the food arrived, I knew I was probably going to give this place one more shot. The seafood had a smelly taste to it. It wasn't as fresh as it looked. I'm a huge fan or Japanese food, and I'm proud to say that I know it well. If the seafood isn't fresh, then none of the dishes will be good. The service was alright, but the food was very slow. I will come back to try them out again, but if their food doesn't improve, then I'm going to have to rate this 1 star.

Lots and lots of exceptionally good food! The service is usually very good and the portions are huge! If you like sushi, steak,or chicken this is the place to go!
