    ANOTHER UNHAPPY CUSTOMER

    In the year of 2011, I had purchased a Maytag Double Oven from Rigels. As of January 31 2016, my oven no longer was working. I called Rigels to schedule a service appointment and to explain the problem with my oven. After finding out the oven had only a one year warranty and a $120.00 service fee, I decided to diagnosis the problem my self. By the way, Rigels has the highest service fee. When I removed the back of the oven, to my surprise I had located the problem quiet easily. The 30 AMP power cord was not properly installed. The nuts were not tightened properly causing the wires to have poor connections. I am not aware of who installs the power cords when merchandise is purchased from the consumer. I will find out who attaches the power cord and had left the job half done. I would call this sloppy work performance. This incident had caused a short and over time the wires became brittle from the constant arcing, causing damage. I will be calling to cancel my service call. Also I will be asking who is to blame for damaging my oven.

    Called Rigels today on Monday February 8th, 2016. I had asked to speak with the Service Manager. I was informed that the employees install the power cords when the new oven that was ordered had arrived. I had also informed the Service Manager of what my findings were and what had caused my oven to malfunction. The Service Manager stated that he could not do anything for me. The oven was 4-5 years old and he stated that it is not certain what had caused the damage. The pictures tell a different story. The Service Manager was not helpful at all. Treated me with no respect and could care less that I was a customer. I continued to ask if he could do anything for me. Service Manager continued to offer me nothing. This is a lesson learned to take my business else where. This year I was in the market for a new microwave and a new dishwasher. I will be purchasing these items from another store. Really, is this how you treat returning customers. Thank you for your excellent customer service. What a joke!!

    Paid $300+ To Repair Dishwasher Myself

    My dishwasher was displaying an error message. Service guy came out and said we needed a new pump. $200+ later...and 3 months later...the same problem. Called them back and they sent out the same service guy. He scolded my wife saying the problem was we left small amounts of food on our plates and it was clogging the filter. He rinsed the filter under the sink and left 10 minutes later. 15 minutes after that, the dishwasher failed again with the same error message.I called back and it took them a couple days to try and set up a return visit. In the meantime, having lost some faith in their service abilities, and my wife not wanted to have to deal with the technician again, I decided to do my own research on Google. Found a solution that involved no parts...just a loose component that needed to be re-situated. I know nothing about appliance repair, but I was able to do this in less then 5 minutes. Dishwasher hasn't failed since...and it's been 5 months.A month after the second "repair" visit, and I get a bill for $120. $5 of which was for parts/materials. Seriously, the gym took the filter out - which takes a minute - and washed it under our sink. What parts and materials could he have possibly used. The visit was 10 minutes, with half of that spent scolding my wife.After receiving the bill, I sent a letter to the president/owner of the company explaining the situation and saying that though I understood we had to pay for the service call, I didn't think $120 was justified. I offered to pay half given the poor service, and the fact that likely the pump replacement done originally wasn't necessary (calling the manufacturer during this whole process, they confirmed the pump replacement likely wasn't necessary given the error message and how I fixed it).No response from the president. So I just held my nose and paid the bill.Rigel's is one of those companies that's been in business for 70 years, but that experience has tarnished their approach to customers, rather than support it. They've gotten used to business just naturally coming in the door and now look at the customer as an adversary, not their lifeblood. Customers, to them, are something that must be endured.Essentially, I paid $300+ to fix my own dishwasher. I think that pretty much sums up my Rigel's experience.
