Retrofoam of Michigan insulate...

Retrofoam of Michigan insulated my brick house in December of 2010. A few weeks latter I had to do some work on my phone lines in the wall and didn't see any spray foam in the wall. I went around my house and took the plates off of my outlets and found only about half with visible spray foam. I called the company and complained. They sent a crew out with a IR detector and did a thermal scan of my house. THE CREW really didn't do a complete comprehensice analysis. All they did was point the thermal gun at each location I thought was cold to confirm my findings. The guy with the scanner was in my house for 5 minutes at the most. This time they decided to add additional foam to the lower portion of the walls. They must have turned up the pressure because when they were spraying the foam, I could hear the walls in my bedrooms expanding and foam coming from my baseboards. They actually bowed my walls. I didn't complain, I was just happy to get rid of them.

Fast forward to the summer of 2012. I decided to remodel my Kitchen which required me to strip the walls to the studs. Upon removing the drywall from the outside walls I discovered that they were only half filled with foam. Some areas were not filled at all ( I have pictures and video). The one void between studs that was filled still had a 2 inch gap at the top ( RetroFoam always contend they are superior because they fill the entire void). I had holes though the sheathing and there was no foam. They breached the integrity of my sheathing and made my home less energy efficient and prone to investation from bugs. I don't understand how they missed entire sections without foam.

I called RetorFoam of Michigan expecting them to be interested in the lack of fill of their product. The reaction was very complacent. They acted like it was no big deal. They didn't even want to send a representative out to look at my walls. They told me they would send a crew out in the Fall. They acted like this was just Standard Operating Procedures. I was floored. If I owned the business, I would want to know why the walls were only half filled. Do I have to tear down my drywall to inspect your work? Since this is a blind procedure, I have to trust they are doing what they say they are doing. The only reason I discovered this was because I tore down drywall. I expected it done right the first time and especially the second.

I don't know what to do from here. I don't want them back at my house drilling holes and bowing my walls. Maybe I can help to educate other potential homeowners of the risk in this product. Drilling into the side of your house and filling the wall cavities with foam is a major structural process. This need to be done by professionals who know what they are doing. This isn't some thing that can be easily corrected if they screw up. I seriously regret having this done. I am thinking of redrilling their holes so that I can insert a camer into the opening and find out which holes are still open and which holes were filled with retro foam. I need to find a way to cover the unfilled holes in my sheathing and stop the flow of heat out of my house.
