I searched the Monterey peninsula for a jeweler to make a custom engagement ring with the diamond I already had. After reading the reviews across the area and on Yellow Pages.com I decided to call James. After speaking with him and giving me his incredible background of 40 years in the business I knew he had the experience to get the work done I needed.



I simply brought in photos of the style of engagement ring I wanted to create and immediately he said with confidence he has made several close to my style and said his final product would be even better quality and for less than I could ever get at one of the larger jewelry franchises. (He also sells diamonds and engagement rings for great prices too.)



I told him I hoped to get the ring finished within three weeks (that's a big push!) and he said he would get the process started immediately for me. I came back a few days later after he designed it on CAD (3D computer software design) and it looked exactly how I described it to him! I don't think you will find many jewelers who can create the exact replica on a computer for you to evaluate before you spend all the money and then see the final ring. James and his assistant Sarah were excellent with calling me and inviting me over to check out the progress and to reconfirm they would meet the deadline I needed.



My fiance and I absolutely love the ring! I highly suggest working with James and going to him for advice, quotes, and any other jewelry repairs and refinishing of old jewelry. James and Sarah are very easy and fun to deal with on such life-long decision as I had to make.



He also gave me an urgent appraisal so I could get insurance on the ring before going on vacation!

i took in several pieces of jewelry for repair and he did such a great job, i took him my wedding ring explained what i wanted and he made me a new ring that is absolutely exactly what i wanted and more, it is so beautiful. he also fixed jewelry that others would not. and when i got my jewelry was more vibrant than when i bought them. i will continue to use him

James & Co is amazing. He created a one of a kind piece of jewelry for my husband, and worked late on a Saturday to finish it in time for the holiday.

Excellent service and work!! I lost my diamond earring (only 1) while skiing in Tahoe. After being reimbursed by my insurance company I went back to the Retail Jewelry Store that sold me the pair (mind you I had worked there for 5 years). Not only did they want to charge me as much as the PAIR for ONE, despite their single diamond replacement policy the NEW pair they got in did match SIZE or COLOR. Looking for a new option, I emailed James & Co. and he called right back. He had my diamond matched and reset with the original and they were STUNNING!!!!!!!!!!! (And much more affordable)!!!! Highly recommended, I have brought other items to him with the same great result!!!! So happy!!!!

I went to get a watch battery fixed and it was quick and less than other places charge! James was very friendly and has several different services to offer including diamond setting, jewelry repairs and he even buys gold. My visit was better then expected and very affordable. I will reccommend this place to my friends and family!

Since then I have returned to have jewelry and watches repaired, rings sized and ordered a new setting for an outdated ring. James does excellent work, very knowledgeable and very reasonable prices. I recently took some gold and silver jewelry to a Hotel gold buyer in Monterey. They quoted me a price that seemed low. I then went to James & Co. to have a watch fixed, and asked the owner to make his offer for the same gold and silver. Was very surprised that this local jeweler offered me nearly double the Hotel gold buyer quoted.

Always check locally before selling to these transient buyers. James & Co. is a very professional and honest local business.

We had purchased another diamond wedding band for my wedding ring,and I took it to a jeweler,that said he would be able to get it done that same day,it turned out awful..My ring was so bad and looked awful,I brought it to James,and he made my ring look Beautiful again!!Thanks To James I get to show my ring off again,and proud of it..James does amazing work,and his prices are great too!!Thank you so Much James!!I will definitely bring him more jewelry and tell everyone about him...

Amazing custom jeweler! We were looking to upgrade my wife's wedding set for our 10th anniversary. We took it in and only had a rough idea of what we wanted to do. James came up with a BEAUTIFUL design that far exceeded our imaginations and expectations! We even had a short timeline and he had it done a day early!



Trust James and give him a little artistic license and you'll get something in return that will far exceed your expectations!

I had wanted a three stone anniversary ring for years. It needed to accomodate my engagement diamond as well as my mother's. James listened to my needs and designed the PERFECT ring. It needed to be sturdy (I do a lot of gardening.) But it also needed to be gorgeous. I cannot believe how wonderfully it came out. Forget the big companies if you want something special and personal. I had an absoluely ancient class ring from father (Class of '61) from a remote small town in Arkansas that needed some repair so it wouldn't scrape my finger. James was great on the phone initially (I found him in the hard copy Yellow Pages), charming, friendly and positive. I handed the ring over, and he was interested in the story behind it, commenting how fortunate I was in so many respects. Anyway, he found a way to solve my problem, had it repaired when promised, and now I can wear it all the time! Oh, yeah, and he did a great job with my wedding set, too (diamonds needed prong replacement). Through it all, James was friendly, engaging, confident, clear, and really listened. Next time something breaks, I'm going to James!

I met James after deciding I wanted to have an engagement ring custom made. I had spent a lot of time on the internet researching rings and diamonds, but was still uncomfortable about making such an important purchase. I wanted to be sure that what I was purchasing was of the quality I expected. And I wanted to be assured that I was dealing with someone who had my best interest in mind. James took the time to explain in greater detail the aspects of purchasing a diamond and provided me with hundreds ring designs. Most importantly, James found the diamonds within my requested specifications and I was able to inspect them myself before they were set into the ring. First time I walked into store, James connected with me. I needed some advice; he gave it friendly and for free. He also fixed a charm for me while in the store at no cost.

My fiancés and I had found the PERFECT setting at one location and the diamond at another. Being pretty unfarmiliar with the jewerly industry we soon discovered that the setting was set for a round stone and we had a princess stone. James was AMAZING!!!!!!! My fiancés brought him both the setting and the stone and James re-pronged the ring, set it EXACTLY how I wanted it and got it done within 2 days! James was professional, clever, intuitive, funny and EASY to work with. I will use James for everything I can in the future. I recently brought in a diamond ring in a setting that I did'nt like. James listened to what I wanted and added some ideas.

He is truly a Master Jeweler and recreated my ring in another setting and added some loose diamonds that I already had. All in all the ring came out just beautifully. James was honest and professional and very prompt in doing the job.

I came to see James with a very special ring in mind for my soon to be Fiancee. He was very patient and he ordered in diamond after diamond until we came up with exactly the right stone. Then we worked on the design of the setting until it was just right. Not only was James very patient througout this process as I gave detail after detail...he was actually as picky as I was! In fact James was custom carving the setting and at one point he scrapped the whole thing and started from scratch because not only did he know it would not meet my standards, it didn't meet his! So if you are looking for a patient and meticulous Master Jeweler to custon design a ring for you or the one you love...James is the man to see!

10 Stars!!! Perfect upgrade to our estate jewelry! James evaluated my wife's 80-year old diamond wedding set for a new band to accompany the original engagement ring. He custom-made the ring to fit against the contours of the antique, added hand-selected diamonds, detailed hand engraving to match to original pattern, and tool-worked the gold for an incredible finish. The set belonged to my great-grandmother, and I know she would be more than pleased with the "upgrade" from James & co. James and Daniel were recommended by other commercial jewelers as the "experts," and they were more than correct. We will always work with James & co. for all of our jewelry needs.
