- Smith Excavating started as a one man operation around 1990. The demand for quality work increased as did the need for additional man power.Russell Smith started the company and shortly added hsi son Matthew to the roster. Chris Spell later joined the team. Through the combined efforts and hard work, more work became available as Smith Excavatings reputation of quailty work grew. Today, Smith Excavating, LLC keeps a staff of approximately 25 to 30 full time employees on varied projects in many different parts of the state.
