Just in time for Mother's Day. Jim Linehan and J.C. Roberts of Storm Guard Restoration ensured the roof installers completed our roof before Mother's Day, which we requested when we ask them to install new shingles on our 17 year old home. On the surface that may not seem to be a difficult task, however considering the weather and record rainfall we have had, I didn't think they were going to make it and I certainly could not have held it against them if they hadn't.



With the exception of delays due to inclement weather the process was straight forward. I ask for a quote and was provided with very complete and comprehensive proposal with all costs outlined in a easy to understand presentation. The other three bids I received from other contractors gave me a one page estimate with a total without itemized pricing.



Jim Linehan the CEO of Storm Guard was actually present to receive the materials from the roofing supplier to ensure that all the materials were accounted for, in good condition, and placed where they would not impede our ingress or egress to our driveway.



Communication flowed often and in both directions. In most cases Jim and JC responded immediately to my texts and emails and when they didn't they always contacted me by the end of their work day. One or the other gave me regular status updates, particularly for scheduling due to weather, so I was never left in the dark. All documentation I requested was provided prior to start of any work on our roof which gave me peace of mind, especially since we have a one and half story home with a 10/12 pitch with several angles.



Once the weather cooperated the installers were able to do their magic. I had the existing shingles removed to the bare boards and had the Atlas Pinnacle Pristine Shingle with 3M ScotchGard roofing system installed. Because of the threat of inclement weather causing them to work one section at a time it took two full days to remove existing shingles, install approximately forty-five squares of new shingles, clean up, and remove debris. I think if the weather had been more conducive to installing a roof the installers would have been done in as little as one day and no more than a day and a half.



Luis Martinez and the rest of the installers did a great job but it was nice to have JC stop by periodically to ensure that everything was on track and meeting Storm Guard's high expectations. The new shingles look great, they are straight and lay flat which may seem like a strange thing to say but when I was looking at homes that had new shingles installed within the past few weeks that was not always the case. I understand that it takes time for the shingles to fully seat themselves but it was nice to see that the roof looked great as soon as the installers got off the roof.



This was not an insurance job, consequently was paid for with money that took years to save just for this project, so I was very hands on throughout the process including the installation of the shingles. Although the quote that Storm Guard provided me was competitive, spending the money that it cost to reroof a house of the size of our home made me anxious before I even made that first call to the various contractors for quotes. Hindsight being 20/20, if I knew that things would have gone as well as they did with Storm Guard and the roof would look as nice as it does I could have save myself some sleepless nights.



I don't expect to be replacing my roof any time soon however if I did I would call Storm Guard. Based on the experience I had with Storm Guard I have no reservations recommending them to my family, friends, and neighbors.
