Was great at first, now it's starting to go downhill.

I have lived with and around people suffering from mental illness my entire life. Been to numerous different mental health centers around the country. I chose to make missoula my permanent home a few years ago and needed to get connected to some services. I had made an inquiry at a Western Montana Mental Health Services. For me, they were way over crowded and burried with clients so i started looking elsewhere.I saw Winds of Change in the phone book and looked in to their services. After speaking to the receptionist who was able to answer all my questions and more, I decided to make an appointment. I went in for an assessment and was told what services were available to me and was matched up with a case worker that same day! It was a great feeling to not have to sit on a waiting list.!! That part was great! I was excited to be connected and get the help i was desperately needing!!Since then, the company moved the office literally down the street but didn't give anyone any notice so it was a shock to some of us AND other buisness people in town were upset they weren't told either. Oh and to make it more confusing, only part of the place moved and then 4 weeks later the other part moved. So now that it has somewhat settled there i at least know how to get ahold of someone and know where they are going to be.Now to the really not so good stuff... It appears that clients no longer have a place to go during the day to hang out. The Recovery Mall used to be that place~ you could hang out with others in the community with mental illness, attend the groups scheduled for the day, do some art work, excersize, watch movies or play games. But now for some reason you have decided to not do that anymore. Since the move was done, it now is not ok to "hang out" in the Recovery Mall, in the building, or outside of the building. It was a very important part of my day to visit the recovery mall and be around other people and work on my social skills. I can see if people were just hanging out there all day and not doing anything else, that would be a problem. But that wasn't what i saw happening so i'm not impressed with the owner. I can't believe what's happened to Winds of Change after their move. There isn't even a sign that says where winds of change is inside or outside the building. I guess people just guess? I used to feel so comfortable when i went to Winds of Change, but now I feel like i'm either in the way or just not wanted. If I wanted to feel like that I could go back to WMMHC. I was hoping a privately run organization would treat everyone with a higher level of respect. I don't know now if i will go or stay. But my advice to the owners: step into reality, try to look at things through a mentally ill client's point of view, ask your clients what they think. It would be great if someday there was a place the mentally ill could gather without being a nuisance to the public. Winds of Change would be a better place if they listened once in awhile.
