God! I miss this man! I was born in ‘77 with a fractured skull, hydrocephalus and - unbeknownst at the time, according to my mom - at least partial agenesis of the corpus callosum. At 2 days old, Dr. Dunn did my first shunt surgery. When I was older, I heard there was another doctor who consulted on my case with him who said that my condition was too severe - he suggested that I be sent home to die. Dr. Dunn (God I love that man) wasn’t having it!

While he did caution my parents that I would have certain challenges along the way, because of him, I got the chance to live, walk (age 3), attend mainstreamed classes all through school and graduate. I even took some college courses.

I’m now 46, I’ve worked full time for the State almost 9 years, married for 3, and I own my own home - everything a lot of people didn’t expect me to be able to do.

All because, back in 1977, a stubborn 41-year-old neurosurgeon, who was probably just starting out, would not give up and write me off.

Thank you Dr. Dunn. I love you. 💕

I had a major brain disease call Nocardia back in 1992. I have been told that I was one of them that was not supposed to make it many brain surgeries because the brain disease just kept coming back finally he got it all. Thank God and Dr Dunn. Well, here I am 43 years old. In between my brain surgeries he even sent his wife on their second Honeymoon by her self because he had to stay back to make sure that night I didn't pull any stunts.
