Unprofessional scam artist

The condition of my phone when I went in: The screen had been cracked from a fall (less than 4 feet. probably closer to a 3 ft fall) It turned on beautifully, the handsfree front facing sensors worked just like they always did. The only thing that wouldn't respond was the screen. It wasn't so badly cracked that I couldn't see what was on the screen.

First off the shop owner, Syed, claims he's 20% cheaper than the mall but charged me almost 50% more than they would've. (Went to him because I thought brick and mortar store= more reputable. I've never been so wrong)

I brought it to this shop on the 22nd and was told he didn't have the part but it'd be there by the 29th and I could retrieve it by the 30th. He asked me to leave the phone with him until the part came in. (This honestly should've been red flag number one.)

He said he would call on the 30th when it was finished. The week passes and on the 30th at approx 4:30 we call him up and ask for an ETA on the phone being done. He mumbled that he'd get it done and there were a few weird noises then a hurried bye.

We arrive about 20 minutes later to get my phone. When we walk inside Syed is asleep on the floor. He woke up and claimed he was under the weather. He opened his drawer and pulled out 2 phones. One that looked remarkably like the one I dropped and another identical one with a fixed screen. He puts the broken on back and hands me the "fixed" phone.

I look at the screen and am satisfied that, yes. The screen isn't cracked anymore. I tried turning it on in the store and it wouldn't. The shop owner claimed it was a dead battery. Since I had never gotten a screen replaced before I wasn't sure of the proper etiquette and took him at his word. (NEVER DO THIS WITH THIS SHOP)

We finish paying our balance (he said the first day we could pay $100 then the other $45 when it was done. We had to remind him how much we owed him.) and leave. Since the phone was dead I stuck it in my purse.

When I got home I took it from my purse, pulled the plastic protective film from the new screen and plugged it in. It flashed an empty battery and flashed a 53% full battery. Once I saw that I tried turning it on again to no avail. I unplugged it and tried again. Nothing. I let it charge to 61%. Still nothing. When I looked at the corner of the screen I could see it was slightly tilted upward. I got my fingernail and was able to easily lift my screen right back up. He never installed it properly.

He has a 7 day warranty on the bottom of his receipts and so I took it back up there for him to fix the awful work he did.

I go in and explain it to him and he immediately calls me a liar and accuses me of dropping it. After some arguing he shoved the phone back in my face and told me to go to the police. (The fact that he was so quick to try and get the police tells me he has had his fair share of unhappy customers.)

From my experience, Syed will scam you out of $145 then yell at you for the pleasure of doing so. And I haven't been able to verify if this phone I got is even mine since I cannot get it to actually turn on. So who knows if my personal information is safe.

Don't.... just don't.....
Absolutely worthless.
Every time I took my phone there they screwed something else up.
Left my phone there for a new screen. The put on a screen and left out the speaker grills.
Left my phone there to install the grills; they broke the back of the phone trying to pry it open,
AND lost the grills, AND created spots on the new screen trying to pry it open.

I started talking small claims court. They claimed they couldn't get the parts, but if I got the
parts they would pay me for them and install them.

Fool that I was, I bought a new back for the phone. They now refuse to pay for it, and didn't put it on correctly so it's peeling up

So, to recap, my 'new' screen has spots on it, my speaker grills are gone, they've bunged up the sides, and the new back that I bought and they put on, is peeling up so the sides are gaping open.
"These things happen sometimes"
NO, they do not! I pay for them not to happen!

Lying, argumentative, and an abject lack of any sort of technical ability.

I wish I'd never gone thru their door. If you're smart, you won't.
