You people who complained make me laugh :) Especially the people who have been there numerous times.. I've never been to a restaurant where the "Happy Hour" wine specials are in the restaurant as well as the bar. You're server not knowing the 86 list though, i will agree is unacceptable but it happens because no one is perfect. May be you should've taken a bar table where the specials on wine and food are instead of complaining. Lets face it your night was ruined by the whole not getting wine cheaper and instead of salvaging it, you were Pessimistic Peggy and didnt matter what happened after. I have eaten there every week almost since they have opened and have gotten better and better.. May be if you had your cheaper wine, your food would've tasted better :).. But no other restaurant in Middletown has that atmosphere or menu.. I suggest you try again and go on a thursday and RESERVE a bar table like I normally do bc "HAPPY HOUR" is til 10pm.. I always give a restaurant twice to make a real review bc you dont know what happened with the wine they were out of.. May be the order was coming in the next day, or a party ordered multiple bottles of the wine you chose.. But again I wont disagree that your waiter should show the 86 list. I know I speak highly of this place bc its almost a second home and I feel warm from the service in the bar from when I walk in to when I leave.. So try again to give it a fair assessment!!

I went for dinner with 7 ladie...

I went for dinner with 7 ladies. We were all very disappointed. there are other very good restaurants all along main st.. My sister had seen that there were wine specials on the night we were there. When we got there we were informed that was only in the bar. The funny part was our table was right next to the bar area. we joked about ordering from the bar. so, that was the first strike. we ordered a bottle of wine...ten minutes later...we were told they were out. We ordered another....ten minutes later...we were told they were out. Half hour later we have a bottle of wine. Food was fair. service poor. When we got the bill even the bottles of wine that we never got were on the bill!! We wont be back.

After having several lovely meals and take out orders from Esca, Father's Day was truly disappointing and unacceptable. We had reservations and were seated quickly in the upstairs with direct sunlight glaring in two of the four guests eyes. The restaurant was not full so the inadequate seating was unnecessary. The appetizers were expensive and did not follow the menu description. A caprese salad without basil (as the description reads in the menu) is odd for $12??? The service was qruelling and extremely slow for the amount of patrons. After waiting for the entrees and not being offered more bread, drinks, or anything else, the waitress asked, "is everything was ok" before anyone had a chance to try them. Additionally, the men were served first and had to wait allowing the meals to cool. I would assume, obviously incorrectly, that someone would notice the Prime rib special being placed on the window ledge for the entire meal while the guest shared the other entrees. One of the staff came to clear the plates and asked if the meat would be taken home even though it was uneaten. He was informed the meat was inedible and took the plate away. The waitress came upstairs with an attitude and was EXTREMELY rude essentially blaming the guest. After this, we decided to leave (over 2 hours later) and move on. I am very disappointed and will not partake in the abusive experience again. However, I will be calling the manager and owner tomorrow with the issues and inconsiderate behavior exhibited on my father's special day and my birthday... Please try another option before attending this establishment.
