Very dissatisfied with this doctor (Dr. Rodofo Pigalarga) and his office (Gastro Health). I believe they are dishonest. I told them I was paying in full for all services at the time of the visit because I have a catastrophic insurance policy with a very high deductible, so they won't be getting paid by insurance, only by me directly. They said no problem and quoted me the price for the office visit and for treatment. I agreed to the prices they told me I would be charged, paid in full at the time of service and left thinking all was well. Shortly thereafter I am in a billing nightmare with them claiming the bill was more than three times what I was quoted in the office. Three weeks after the first bill was sent from their office saying I owed them money, they sent the account to collections. The fact that they don't even attempt a phone call reinforces my perception that the entire business is based on fraudulent billing practices. I might also mention that they do not follow up with patients after procedures are performed, so if you think you're dealing with a doctors office of old, where they actually care about whether the service provided to you helped you, you can forget about that with these people.

The office manager is straight out of the ghetto, covered in tattoos, and reeks like an ash tray, with a nasty attitude. When I went in to complain about the bill and said I wanted to speak with the doctor about this, I was told by office manager that she makes the decisions and not to bother trying to talk to the doctor about anything since he's just an employee.

The office is a dive which is dirty, poorly lit, with lots of "workers" milling about having personal conversations, but no one appearing to actually do any medical work. While I was waiting to talk to the office manager (who was outside smoking for the 35 minutes I waited), one office worker conversation was about someone (apparently in the office) being arrested for trying to hire an undercover cop on craigslist to do something illegal.

Quoted $350 for initial visit and $100 per band. Billed more than $1500 for two hemorrhoid bands that did not fix anything for me and the doctor pushing for many more visits as he did not want to put on more than one band at a time. Total time with the doctor for the two visits? Maybe 20 minutes. I was not particularly happy about being charged $450 for 20 minutes but was willing to pay for relief of the problem. Needless to say, getting no relief, no follow up from the doctor or the office, and getting billed 3x what I was quoted after the fact has left me less than satisfied.

I would not recommend this doctor or Gastro Health unless you like being lied to and overcharged. If you enjoy this kind of abuse in addition to having objects inserted in your rear, you might enjoy the place.

I have to think that the positive reviews of this place on other sites are shill reviews based on the comments in the other negative reviews that exist and my personal experience with the place.

This was my second time for the exam, first one was 5 years ago and it was also a 5-star experience. Again, I found on my second visit the same top-quality experience from the intake paperwork staff being well organized to the pre-exam by a nurse all went very smooth. I found the staff to be professional and very friendly. Dr. Leavitt's initial visit with me to discuss the scheduled exam was not rushed, very informative and certainly instills confidence not only in his experience but his entire team. He took the time to explain the procedure and answer any questions I had. The day of the exam this past Wednesday I was on the schedule for the first procedure. Again, I found professional and friendly staff from the intake registration desk to the bedside care both pre-and post care of the procedure. All and all this top-flight team makes having the colonoscopy as pleasant as possible. The procedure is totally painless, over very quickly and when Dr. Leavitt did his follow up with me a brief time after I awoke from the anesthesia his report and bedside manor was again excellent. I am lucky the Dr. informed I had clean bill of health and to schedule again in 10 years... now that is good news and if he is not retired and still working I be sure to schedule with him and his fantastic group of Gastro Health in Miami. I highly recommend Dr. Leavitt and his entire team at Gastro Health.

After waiting a significant time, when I finally saw the Doctor he exhibited a lack of attention when I described my symptoms. The place is run like a production line. He probably spend no more than 5 minutes with me and immediately scheduled a colonoscopy without a proper evaluation. I'm disappointed with the experience. Gastrohealth has become a corporation where the patient's needs are subordinate to profits.
