Green Acres Country Club was founded in 1957 by a group of local citizens who recognized the need for a swimming and recreational facility in the area. The club, now entering its sixth decade of operation, is unique in that it was conceived, financed and built entirely by its members. The original physical plant consisted of the pools and bath house. Over the years, many improvements have been made, including the construction of the clubhouse, pool cabana and tennis courts. The grounds are shaded by many mature trees with landscaping, decks, picnic areas, and play areas and equipment for the children. Green Acres is very active in the Jefferson Community Club Association, which sponsors swim and dive competitions for juniors and tennis leagues for both juniors and adults. It is the mission of Green Acres Country Club to offer the highest quality possible amenities, facilities and services to the membership while maintaining a fiscally sound operating position.
