My family and I eat here often, dining in or takeout. We've never had an experience that I would truly call bad; a few of their menu items are not to my taste, but there's a lot to love. Whenever I have company, I usually take them here. Service is always excellent, friendly and unbelievably fast at dinner time. I have noticed that if you go earlier in the day, the mood is a bit more "casual", but to call it rude or nasty is just plain exaggerating. The family that runs Don Ramon's are great people and they are active and valuable members in Mayville's community. I really can't say enough good things about the place, and I'm glad to see that they are thriving. When we moved to Mayville a few years ago, the building was occupied by another Mexican restaurant called El Azteca, which was ok, but when Don Ramon moved in there is no comparison. The only time I've heard someone complain about the food is because they were likely expecting something more like Tex-Mex or Taco Bell; the food here is much more authentic and high quality.

And seriously, give a small town restaurant one star because they don't cater to your dietary restrictions? Come on.

New into the area I wanted to try out this restaurant. Despite what people have been talking about the place. several people have told me that when they opened up it was excellent but as time has past new cooks waitresses etc. have change and so has the business. burnt food, less and dried out food, female waitress has nasty attitude and some regular drunks. being from a bigger city it happens (people talking) so I went to try it out myself well I too got the young Hispanic girl as a waitress and I had to wait for her to put down her cell phone so she could bring me water even the cook and the manager were using their cell phones. people this is a business do you know how much germs are on these phones and I know for a fact she didn't wash her hands I cant say much about the others because I didn't see them. the burrito was great flavor but to much filler lettuce and rice not enough meat in my opinion but still good flavor and as far as the local drunks what business doesn't have them but there was this one particular short Hispanic lady I overheard someone call her Melissa someone should tell her that its not a playground its a restaurant!

One of our favorite places

My husband and I moved to Mayville a few years ago. This was one of the first restaurants we found and we have visited often ever since. We have never had a bad meal and have tried numerous items on their menu. Every server has been friendly and helpful. We have eaten here all different times of days and days of the week. The service and food is always reluable and exceptional. Definitely try this place out!

If you have Celiac's Disease, ...

If you have Celiac's Disease, BEWARE! This is probably one of the least compliant restaurants we have frequented in a while. We have tried multiple times, and each time I come and become horribly ill for days afterward because they cannot comply with our simple request to keep my food free of contaminants.

If you don't have Celiac's, ask for Enrique or Felix. These are the two best servers they have. They give the best service and make the best drinks. Don't trust the cooks, if you ask for your steak medium, expect it rock hard and gray in the middle. It's happened to my husband numerous times. Their drink prices are okay, but only if Enrique or Felix are serving them is it then worth the money.
