the absolute worse music store to get your guitars set-up. when i mean bad... i mean atrocious! the guitar tech (Cliff) is not certified and he sure as hell aint a Luthier. this store loves to brag about Cliff touring with Megadeath. yeah right! first, they quoted me to do a full guitar set-up for $35. i talked to Cliff about exactly what i needed him to do. upon check out... i was charged $45. of course my wife came to pick up and pay because i was at work. obvious, they take advantage of women. second, Cliff done a garbage job on my guitar($925.00 Schecter). it was way out of tune, strings flopped like spaghetti noodles, nut was filed out way to wide to accommodate big gauge strings(nut severely damaged has to be replaced), severe fret buzz, hardware scratched/screw heads stripped out, truss rod cover loosely attached and the action was so low the strings looked like they were painted on the fret board. i have never heard or seen a guitar tech doing such horrible work. how does he keep a job! im serious. this is absolutely insane. third, the 2 week old guitar came back filthy. covered in dust and finger prints. 99.99999 % of all guitar techs clean up the guitar and treat the necks before returning the instrument back to the owner. shows right there that Cliff does not respect your instrument. forth, i was told my guitar would be finished on monday(guitar was dropped off on saturday). was told there wasnt a long wait and they would accommodate and ensure that i got my instrument back quick because i had a friend flying in from out of town to do some recording. guess what? Cliff called out of work on monday. the store clerk was joking about Cliff being to hung over and that if he called out of work on a monday that he wouldve been fired. i was like, what!
after being severely disappointed with the work performed on my guitar. i talked to the owner ( Doug Ponier) on the phone before coming back to the store to get a refund. this man made every excuse known to man. he told me that what i asked for was experimental and that no standard guitar can be dropped tuned below drop D. are you serious? how many metal bands drop tune their guitars? nobody in the metal industry plays in standard anymore. Doug went as far to tell that my style of music was tasteless and pure garbage. not only did they screw up my guitar but they disrespected my style of music. after bringing the guitar back to the shop Cliff admitted to using a dremel to file the nut on my guitar to accommodate big gauge strings and not adjusting the action or truss rod. all this guy did was file the nut and replace the strings. what really gets under my skin is that i fully explained what i wanted and Cliff made me think he knew what he was doing. Attention Music Store Owners: if your customer is highly disappointed with the work performed on their instruments.... ISSUE A REFUND! dont make excuses and criticize their instruments and music style. own up, take responsibility and try your best to make the client happy. also, hire a certified Luthier. someone that actually knows how to not only repair a guitar but can actually build guitars. Cliff is incompetent, unprofessional, and very disrespectful. not only did this man do a horrible job but he actually damaged the guitar. if i could post before and after pictures on this review, the readers here would be appalled. hell, their own employees will tell you that Cliff is a horrible guitar tech. i dont recall the young lady that was working the register, but she told me that Cliff had messed up her boyfriends Fender Strat and he had to send the guitar to Fender to fix his F-UP's. this is so pathetic. im sorry for the long rant. i hope each and every reader learns from this. i really regret my wife paying cash instead of credit. i wouldve just disputed the charges. people... listen well. DO NOT GO TO PONIER MUSIC!!!!!!
