Lancaster DHIA, also known as the Lancaster Dairy Herd Improvement Association, provides dairy farmers and their consultants with management information and tools that they need to manage their herds. It offers various milk testing services, including MUN and Johne's tests. The association utilizes PCDART, which is herd management software that includes free updates and support. Lancaster DHIA is located in Manheim, Pa., and offers services throughout Pennsylvania and the surrounding states. Founded in 1992, it was originated as an outgrowth of Red Rose DHIA, which was a county organization of Pennsylvania DHIA. The association operates a laboratory that processes more than 165,000 component samples, over 20,000 MUN samples and nearly 5,000 produce payment samples per month.
