Concerned Mom

Having experienced the effects of therapy on children I find it just horrible that a trained individual would pit a child against a parent just to enhance their relationship with the child.

The fact that this Shaw viewed your child as an "EXPERIMENT" and removed your son from his meds without seeking guidance from the prescribing doctor is just horrible and unprofessional.

BEWARE

My 15 year old son received therapy from this psychologist for two months. During this time Dr. Shaw recommended that my son have the right to decide whether or not to take his previously-prescribed ADD medication. This was the first disaster, as my son stopped taking his meds and academically did a nose dive. Thereafter he wanted me to contemplate his dropping out of school. When I challenged his thought process, he said he was "out of this experiment". He said he was a scientist above all, and this was an experiment. He refused to speak to me further about this and is completely intolerant of any parental challenge to his thoughts. When I requested that he have closure with my son, who had formed a strong bond with him, he refused, saying that my son had experienced many other losses, and that this one would be one more.

This Doctor's M.O. is to ally himself with the child and pit the child against the parent.
