The people that work here truly care for the people they take care of daily . They are very compassionate and kind, not only towards the residents but to each other as well. They have a new Director of Nurses who is very hands on and knows what’s going on with the Residents.

This was our first experience with a rehab facility and Garrisons was our first choice for my dad needing services. This facility is beyond horrible as far as the level of care. It was like leaving my dad alone to care for himself. He has Alzheimer’s and there was a waiting list for that area so he went to a regular room. My dads foot was in bad shape so he could not walk and because of existing stomach issues, my dads poor appetite had him weak beyond self care. My dad went into Garrisons with an IV port for IV meds. He required daily foot care which was not happenin. One day the dr had ordered bloodwork. Needless to say my dads roommate is the one that got his blood drawn. A different day my dad was getting his IV meds so the nurse starts an IV on my dad causing several sticks when my dad had an IV port. Most days hours, my dad had someone there to help him, a family member however not at nite because the rooms were so small they didn’t recommend overnite stays. My dads roommate told us everynute my dad had to go to bathroom without any help because no one ever showed up to help not one single nite. The roommate discharged and one nite my dad fell in the bathroom cut his nose, hurt his arm and shoulder. I pray that families make the time to check on their loved ones there and everywhere else because you never know what really goes on in there. I saw a lady with her whole left side of face black/purple. I heard she fell. My dad was not there long, we went elsewhere. The place looks decent and clean but the level of care is past horrible. No excuse for the craziness of those blood draws, absolutely no excuse. When it came to disputing meds, they handed my dad a small cup with all his meds. My dad has Alzheimer’s, he would not have taken anything if not for us. Horrible place. I don’t see how they are still open.

The parent company Ensign was fined 48 million in 2015 for Medicare fraud. It may be ongoing. My mother was put in isolation for c dif (causes diarrhea) when she had been given a stool softener. That and the fact that they took money for a private room which they failed to provide were the last straw. I removed my mother on 5/13/16, and she has gained weight. She lost about 30 lbs. In 5.5 months at Garrison, besides being attached to a wheelchair much of the time. She walks with a walker now. It took over 4.5 months to get the over $4000 they owed us back.

A once great facility brought down by poor management. I have had two family members stay at the Garrison in the past two years. The first was an absolutely amazing experience. My grandmother received all the care she could have ever needed. The nurses were great, Wendy the administrator even came by to make sure everything was going well for her. So needless to say when my Great Aunt needed to go in for rehab the Garrison was our first choice. WOW! What a bad, bad, BAD decision. Apparently The Garrison was bought out in January of this year (2015) by a company called Ensign. From what I was told by a couple of the nurses nearly all of the staff was fired or forced to quit soon there after so that part time staff (that they would not have to pay benefits to) could be hired in their place. This new administrator, Matt, is a complete and utter moron. I had to meet with him one time because we had problems with one of the other administrators. Well it turns out that administrator was his wife. Yeah . . . so, that doesn't seem wrong AT ALL. Anyway, last week we pulled my aunt out of The Garrison and moved her to another facility. I would not send my dog to this place! Such a shame. Greed clearly got in the way of patient care. Mr. Garrison would roll over in his grave if he knew what had happened to it.

Excellent Facility

Mu mother is presently in Garrison Center for rehabilitation therapy after undergoing hip replacement surgery. Everyone at the facility goes beyond the call of duty to make the residents feel at home. Garrison Center is by far the nicest, cleanest, friendlist, well-kept facility I have ever encountered. I was a CNA at one time and I have seen most of the facilities around the Lubbock area and Garrison Center out rates all of them in my opinion. All the way from the nursing staff to the administration office employees to the residents themselves are open and friendly and just an absolute pleasure to be with. I will highly recommend them to anyone who needs a recommendation.
